What is Step Up?
 |
The Step Up Program is a unique service developed to provide a
comprehensive treatment and education program for school-age children with
disorders on the autism spectrum. |

Treatment and programming
targets areas include communication,
socialization, sensory processing, motor coordination, and cognitive
development. |
 |
A team approach is emphasized in all areas of
this program. The team includes a variety of professionals
(occupational therapist, speech-language therapist, teacher) as well
as parents and other significant individuals or agencies involved
with each child. |
 |
The Step Up Program puts a strong emphasis on
home programming, parent education, team meetings, and in-service
training in order to increase carry-over and generalization of
skills targeted during each individual treatment session.

Who is eligible? School aged children diagnosed with a disorder on the autism spectrum
and who are experiencing difficultly succeeding in a typical school
setting.

A variety of services are available including occupational therapy
and speech-language therapy sessions (individual or co-treatment),
consultation at home or to schools/daycares, etc, in-services in
related areas, participation in the Stepping Stones Programs, support and attendance at team and/or IEP meetings, as well
as other related services. |

Students MUST be referred
by their own school district administrators. |
